THE MAN BEHIND THE PROGRAM

ABOUT CARIS

A solid member of the Brooklyn Nets after being drafted to the team in 2016, Caris LeVert is regarded as a cornerstone of the franchise’s future and is one of the most versatile young players in the league. Capable of playing multiple positions and dominating on both sides of the court, Caris’ career accomplishments include headlining the Nets’ 2018 Summer League roster and averaging 10.5 points per game.

Prior to his time with the Nets, LeVert proved an integral asset during his time with the University of Michigan Men’s Basketball team, helping the team reach the NCAA National Championship game and capture the Wolverines' first outright Big Ten Conference title in 28 years.

In his free time, Caris is as active off the court as he is on. He is heavily involved in the various cities that have shaped him, focusing on local youth empowerment and raising funds for multiple sclerosis.

OUR MISSION

ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

Over the past year, Chris LeVert has been involved with UWantGame, a 501c3 mentoring program. This inspired Caris to establish the 22 Initiative in partnership with UWantGame. Caris remembers how challenging high school was from the demands of academics to unexpected life changes and personal tragedies. Caris leaned on many mentors to help get him through his mother's diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, his father's death, selecting a college and much more.

Caris will work with 22 students throughout the season to provide six life skills based, educational and career development experiences that will help them be more confident and focused on their goals. The 22 Initiative will select students from the Business of Sports School, George Westinghouse High School and Benjamin Banneker Academy. To kick-off the initiative, Caris will meet the students after the Nets Game on November 4, 2018.
